PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fluorescent lamp which is not turned off even when being lighted under high temperature-atmosphere. SOLUTION : The fluorescent lamp which includes a pair of hot cathode type electrodes on both ends and in which a phosphor is formed as a layer on an inner surface of a glass tube and a protective film is formed between the glass tube and the phosphor is characterized in that relations GHg=AxCL and A=0.0032-0.163 [mg/cc] are satisfied, wherein the amount of an impure gas remained in the lamp including the amounts of gas occluded into the phosphor and the protective film is reduced to 0.5% or less in a filler rare gas partial pressure ratio, GHg [mg] denotes a filling amount of mercury, CL [cc] denotes an in-lamp volume and A [mg/cc] denotes a coefficient.
