PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an Eu-activated rare earth phosphovanadate fluorescent substance having less reduction of light emitting luminance at elevated temperature even when heat-treated than a conventional one, a cold cathode fluorescent lamp exhibiting high luminous flux at elevated temperature and under high load, a light-emitting device exhibiting emission of light of high luminance with suppressed temperature quenching, and a color liquid crystal display.SOLUTION : The red light-emitting rare earth phosphovanadate fluorescent substance whose composition formula is represented by (R1-x, Eux)MO4 contains 1, 000 ppm or less of metal elements Ln, wherein R is at least one metal element selected from Y, La, and Gd, M is V and/or P, Ln are at least two metal elements selected from Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, and Bi, and x is 0.001≤x≤0.2. The fluorescent substance is used as a fluorescent screen of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp, the light-emitting device, and backlight of the color liquid crystal display.COPYRIGHT : (C)2010, JPO&INPIT
