PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a highly-corrosion-resistant plated steel material which can effectively suppress iron rust caused by plating pinhole. SOLUTION : The steel material is plated with a metal that is electrochemically more noble than the steel material, such as Ni, Co and Cu, and has a layer of a metal or an alloy having hydrogen overpotential larger than that of the steel material at a boundary between the steel material and the plating layer. Preferably, the metal having hydrogen overpotential larger than that of the steel material is one chosen from Cr, Mn, Zn, In, Sn and Bi or is an alloy of one chosen from B, S, P, V, Mo and RE (rare earth element) and one chosen from Fe, Co and Ni.
