Provided is a novel method for evaluating the culturability of mouth cells including tooth pulp cells and oral membrane fibroblasts, as well as other types of mesenchymal stem cells when subjecting same to long-term freeze-storage for purposes of effective utilization in the future, as well as storing and guaranteeing of same. The culturability of acquired biological cells is evaluated using at least activity of the cells, the number of cells after being cultured for a predetermined amount of time, and the survival rate of the cells as graded numerical values, these values are recorded as initial culturability values, the biological cells thus cultured and for which the initial culturability values were evaluated and recorded are divided into predetermined numbers for storage, the cells are freeze-stored under uniform conditions, one of the divided portions is thawed after a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, the culturability is evaluated once again under the same conditions as for the initial evaluation and post-thaw culturability values are recorded, the initial culturability values and the post-thaw culturability values are compared, and, if there has been no degradation in the culturability, the same amount of biological cells as the thawed portion is re-cultured and freeze-stored, or, if there has been degradation in the cultivation ability, an increased amount of biological cells is re-cultured according to the state of degradation and freeze-stored, thus making storage possible while evaluating and guaranteeing a certain level of cell culturability even during continued long-term freeze-storage.
