PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical reception device capable of reducing the size and obtaining an excellent optical amplification characteristic. SOLUTION : An optical waveguide substrate 100 of an optical module 1, includes : a polarization beam splitter 31; a beam splitter 32; and a pair of optical hybrid circuits 33 and 34, and a transmission light, a local light, and a reception light adjusted by a light modulator 13 are entered to the optical waveguide substrate of the optical module. The polarization beam splitter 31 separates the reception light into a X polarization component and a Y polarization component orthogonal to the X polarization component. The beam splitter 32 separates the local light, and the pair of optical hybrid circuits 33 and 34 interferes the X polarization component and the Y polarization component, and the local light separated. In a pair of local optical waveguides connecting the beam splitter and the pair of optical hybrid circuits, and a transmission optical waveguide in which the transmission light passes, a rare earth ion amplifying the light having a predetermined frequency is doped when an exciting light is conducted.
