PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a rare-earth magnet by which the rare-earth magnet having high coercive force is easily obtained.
SOLUTION : An R2 metal and/or an R2-based alloy (where R2 is one kind of element selected from among Dy, Tb and Ho) is brought into contact with a surface of a rare-earth magnet having crystal particles including as a main phase an R12X14B phase (where R1 is at least one of element selected from among rare-earth lanthanide elements and X is obtained by substituting Co for Fe or part of Fe) and having a crystal grain diameter of <1 μm, and a heat treatment is carried out such that the crystal grain size does not exceed 1 μm, thereby diffusing R2 elements in the magnet. Preferably, the R2-based alloy may contain as a sub-element at least one of element selected from among Cu, Al, Ga, Ge, Sn, In, Si, P, and Co.
