PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet exhibiting sufficient corrosion resistance. SOLUTION : The rare earth magnet 100 comprises a magnet element 10 containing a rare earth element, and a protective layer 20 formed on the surface of the magnet element 10 to have sulfuration resistance and containing an oxide of one kind or more of elements selected from a group of Al, Ta, Zr, Hf, Nb, Si, Ti, Mg, Cr, Ni, Ba, Mo, V, W, Zn, Sr, Fe, Bi, B, Ca, Ga, Ge, La, Pb and In.
