PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cellulose ester that contributes toward improving contrast of display characteristics of liquid crystal display and toward reducing color change of the display. SOLUTION : The cellulose ester film contains at least one of cellulose ester satisfying formulae I-III, also satisfies Re(450)/Re(550)1, Rth(450)/Rth(550)1, wherein, X1 expresses degree of substitution of the cellulose ester by acetyl group, and X2 expresses degree of substitution of the cellulose ester by propionyl group and/or butyryl group, and formula I is 2.2≤X1+X2≤2.55, formula II is 1.1≤X1≤1.5, and formula III is 1.05≤X2≤1.4.
