PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cold accumulating material having a high strength, being nearly free from the risk of being pulverized into fine particles, being excellent in thermal shock resistance and durability, and exhibiting a significant refrigerating performance at a low-temperature region, and a method for manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION : The cold accumulating material comprises a number of magnetic particles with diameters of 0.01-3 mm, wherein the magnetic particles include rare earth elements, and each magnetic particle has ≥0.7 of the circularity factor R defined by 4πA/L2 where A is the area of a projection image of each magnetic particle on a plane and L is the peripheral length of the projection image and the standard deviation of the circularity factors R is ≤0.1.
