METHOD FOR REMOVING BORON IN BORON-CONTAINING WASTEWATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for removing boron in boron-containing wastewater using a layer of granulated bodies based on a hydrous oxide of a rare earth metal, in which boron in the boron-containing wastewater is economically adsorbed away by reducing the amount of an acidic solution to be used in an adjustment process without impairing the boron adsorbing performance of the layer of the granulated bodies which is used repeatedly. SOLUTION : The method for removing boron in the boron-containing wastewater includes an adsorption process of filling a column with the granulated bodies of the hydrous oxide of the rare earth metal and supplying the boron-containing wastewater to the column to remove boron, an elution process of then supplying an alkaline solution to the column to elute boron, and the adjustment process of subsequently supplying the acidic solution to the column. In the method, the acidic solution supplied in the adjustment process is flowed within the column in the direction opposite to the direction in which the boron-containing wastewater supplied in the adsorption process flows within the column, and the effluent from the column for the acidic solution is kept alkaline.
