Disclosed is a flaky graphite cast iron which does not particularly need the use of any misch metal or the like, has excellent wear resistance and processability, and is suitable for an engine part for an internal combustion engine or the like. Also disclosed is a method for producing the flaky graphite cast iron. Specifically disclosed is a flaky graphite cast iron comprising a type-A graphite having such a form that graphite has no orientation and therefore is dispersed randomly and homogeneously, which has the following chemical composition (by mass) : C : 2.8-4.0%%, Si : 1.2-3.0%%, Mn : 1.1-3.0%%, P : 0.01-0.6%%, and S : 0.01-0.30%%, with the remainder being Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein the ratio of the Mn content to the S content (i.e., a Mn/S ratio) is 3 to 300.COPYRIGHT KIPO & WIPO 2010
