PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method capable of reusing a discharge lamp without disposing of the discharge lamp, by sufficiently removing deposits of a wall surface in a glass tube of the discharge lamp.
SOLUTION : The discharge lamp regenerating method includes a cutting step of separating a divided object 5 composed of a closing member 3, a filament 4 and a glass tube end 2b from the glass tube 1 by cutting the vicinity of both ends of a quartz glass tube of the discharge lamp, a cleaning step of cleaning and drying inner-outer surfaces of a glass tube body 2a by pure water or a volatile liquid to the glass tube body 2a of opening both ends by separating this divided object 5, a heating step of heating the glass tube body 2a for ≥5 seconds at ≥300°C and at the temperature lower than melting quartz glass, and a closing member installing step of installing the divided object 5 having the filament 4 on both ends by sealing light emitting metal and rare gas in this glass tube body 2a.
