PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an oxygen atom generating apparatus capable of emitting oxygen atom with high density in low temperature conditions with high electric power efficiency.
SOLUTION : Oxygen gas is supplied into the inside of a closed space partitioned by an oxide ceramic and the oxide ceramic itself is heated by directly turning on electricity and kept at a high temperature of 1, 000°C or higher under the condition that oxygen partial pressure difference is generated between the inside and outside of the space. At this time, oxygen gas filled up in the inside of the space is given the driving force by an oxygen chemical potential difference with the outside, moves in crystals of the oxide ceramic in the form of an oxygen ion and is emitted as a high-density oxygen atom (neutral atom species) to the external atmosphere. In the oxygen atom generating apparatus, an oxide ionic conductive material of zirconia, ceria, mullite, apatite type rare earth silicate, lanthanum gallate or the like is usable as a metal oxide ceramic.
