This invention provides a magnet, which, unlike a rare earth magnet produced without sintering using a resin as a binder which has poor magnetic properties, has excellent magnetic properties, and a rotating electrical machine for automobiles using the magnet. A rare earth magnetic material is compression molded to prepare a compression molded product. A precursor of SiO2 is impregnated into the compression molded product of the magnet material to prepare a magnet body comprising the rare earth magnet material bound with an amorphous filmy SiO2. A rotating electrical machine for automobiles is produced by using the magnet body. According to the above constitution, a magnet and a rotating electrical machine for automobiles, which can eliminate the need to the step of sintering, can be produced with excellent productivity. Further, an eddy current within the magnet can be reduced.
