PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light-emitting device capable of emitting whitish light, by using fluorescent materials which are excited by light from an excitation light source in a wavelength range from near ultraviolet light to short-wavelength visible light, conduct wavelength conversion, and emit a luminescent color from a greenish color to a yellowish color. SOLUTION : This light-emitting device uses a light-emitting element excited by a light with a wavelength of 400 nm, is equipped with the fluorescent materials of an oxynitride fluorescent material, another fluorescent material for emitting blue light, and the other fluorescent material for emitting red light which are excited by light from the light-emitting element and conduct the wavelength conversion, and emits the whitish light, wherein the oxynitride fluorescent material is expressed by formula LXMYOZN((2/3)X+(4/3)Y-(2/3)Z) : R (L is at least one kind of group II element selected from Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn; M is at least one kind of group IV element selected from C, Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr, and Hf; O is oxygen; N is nitrogen; R is a rare earth element; and X, Y, and Z each satisfies the following inequalities : 0COPYRIGHT : (C)2004, JPO&NCIPI
