Specifically disclosed is a process for producing an MAI2O4 : Eu-type long-lasting phosphor [wherein M represents an alkali earth metal], which is characterized by comprising mixing a BAM (alkali earth aluminic acid salt) phosphor with an alkali earth compound and burning the resulting mixture.
