PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technique capable of reducing the production cost of foam glass.
SOLUTION : Most of ferrous metals, most of nonferrous metals and most of resins are removed from ASR by a know separation method (ST11) to obtain primary earth and sand glass. The primary earth and sand glass is crushed (ST12) and passed through a first sieve (ST13). The resultant secondary earth and sand glass is passed through a second sieve (ST14). The second sieve has smaller openings than the first sieve. Tertiary earth and sand glass is thus obtained. This tertiary earth and sand glass comprises 0.1-3 mass% of re-remaining resins and glass particles (including residual earth and sand). Calcium carbonate contained in the re-remaining resins functions as a blowing agent, that is, foam glass can be produced from only ASR without adding a blowing agent. Since it is not necessary to get a blowing agent, the production cost of the foam glass can be reduced.
