PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst composition which can express excellent catalytic activity for a long period even under a high temperature or under the fluctuation of the oxidative or reductive atmosphere, and further, exhibits excellent cost performance, and its method for manufacturing. SOLUTION : The catalyst composition includes a heat-resistant oxide containing cerium, zirconium and/or a rare earth element (except cerium) and, carried thereon, Pd and an alkaline earth metal, wherein the content of Pd in the catalyst composition is adjusted to 0.3-0.8 wt.%.
