PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric porcelain high in dielectric constant and exhibiting stable temperature characteristics of relative dielectric constant, and a capacitor using the same.
SOLUTION : The dielectric porcelain has crystal grains containing barium titanate as main component, and an intergranular phases formed between respective crystal grains; wherein, to one mole of barium configuring the barium titanate, a prescribed ratio in terms of oxide of at least one kind of rare earth element (RE) selected from the group consisting of magnesium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium and ytterbium, and manganese are contained, and a prescribed ratio in terms of oxide of tantalum is contained to 100 pt.mass of barium titanate, and the average grain size of crystal grains is 0.05-0.2 μm. Also, by applying the dielectric porcelain as a dielectric layer, a capacitor of high capacitance and stable capacitance temperature characteristics can be formed.
