PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To markedly reduce adherence of concentrated ions to prevent roughened plated surface and generation of rust by immersing a machine a workpiece of an R-Fe-B sintered magnet body into a grinding and rust- preventing oil, then barrel-polishing it in a barrel machine in which the grinding and rust-preventing oil is filled, and then cleaning and drying it. SOLUTION : R-Fe-B (R includes Y, and contains at least one or more are earth elements including a light are earth element and a heavy rare earth element) magnet powder having required composition is press-molded into a long bow shape, sintered, and subjected to aging, then the inner surface R, outer surface R, and required thickness of the magnet long size blank are polished in this order with a rust preventing oil, and then the workpiece is immersed into a polishing and rust-preventing oil to remove the grinding scraps or polishing scraps, etc. Then, the workpiece is beveled by barrel-polishing it in a barrel machine in which the grinding and rust-preventing oil is received in a state wherein the workpiece is coated with the grinding and rust-preventing oil. Then, after the magnet is cleaned by being exposed to a jet of or immersed into water into which N2 gas is injected, it is dried and subjected to following plating treatment.
