PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a nickel hydride storage battery with discharge capacity hardly deteriorated, even when a rare earth-Mg-Ni system alloy is used as an active material and charge and discharge are repeated for many times or when a long time has passed since the nickel hydride storage battery is made.
SOLUTION : The nickel hydride storage battery includes a negative electrode made by laminating two or more crystal phases having different crystal structures in a c-axis direction of the crystal structure, and containing a hydrogen storage alloy of a rare-earth-Mg-Ni system with a content of the crystal phases having a CaCu5 type crystal structure of ≤15 mass%, and alkali electrolyte solution with a sodium ion concentration of 4.0 mol/l or more, a potassium ion concentration and a lithium ion concentration of less than 2.0 mol/l, respectively, and a total ion concentration of ≤8.0 mol/l.
