Disclosed is a catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxide, which is composed of a β-zeolite loaded with a rare earth metal oxide and titanium dioxide loaded with a rare earth metal oxide. The catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxide is alternatively composed of a β-zeolite loaded with a rare earth metal oxide and oxide or hydroxide of iron and titanium dioxide loaded with a rare earth metal oxide and oxide or hydroxide of iron. Also disclosed is a catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxide, which is composed of a carrier made of a ceramic or a metal material and a layer of the catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxide which is arranged on the carrier.
