PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp without containing mercury, having high intensity in a UV-A region, and using metal halide capable of realizing with various lamp shapes as the base material. SOLUTION : The metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp without containing mercury, is equipped with a discharge vessel sealed airtightly in optical transparency, and two electrode protruding into the discharge vessel and arranged so as to face each other in the vessel. The discharge vessel contains at least one kind of rare gas, at least element iron and zinc, and at least one kind of halide. The halide is filled with a lamp filling material containing bromide, and a ratio of the bromide to the total halogen volume is at least to be 14 mol%, and a relation of a ratio between zinc mol density D (μMol/cm3) and intensity of an electric field E (V/cm) between electrodes is to be 0.005≤D/E≤0.200.
