The present research respects to the aqueous extract of Pieris brassicae larvae fed with tronchuda cabbage, which possesses antioxidant activity against radical species prejudicial to health and has capacity to inhibit xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in gout development. The compounds present in this extract are rare in nature and hard to be synthesized in the laboratory, due to their complex chemical structures. Thus, the present invention proportionate the obtainment of standardized aqueous extracts to be used as antioxidants in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics or plastics industries, also constituting an economical advantage for tronchuda cabbage producers who suffer great losses with this pest.
