PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a luminescent material that produces a different emission from rare earth elements and is efficient in shifting the emission peak.
SOLUTION : The luminescent material for ultraviolet or visible light excitation contains a cupric silicate compound activated by at least one of Eu, Dy, Ce, Mn and Gd. The compound converts primary ultraviolet radiation in a wavelength range of 300 to 400 nm and/or primary blue light in a wavelength range of 380 to 500 nm generated from one or more elements mounted in a light emitting device into light in a visible spectral range.
