A piezoceramic composition comprises a nickel- and molybdenum-doped lead zirconate-titanate (I). Piezoceramic composition comprises a nickel- and molybdenum-doped lead zirconate-titanate of nominal formula : Pb 1-aRE bAE c[Zr xTi y(Ni nMo m) z]O 3(I) RE = rare earth metal; AE = alkaline earth metal; a = a number less than 1; b = 0-0.15; c = 0-0.5; n and m = numbers greater than zero, provided that n/m = 0.1-5; and x, y and z = numbers greater than zero, provided that x+y+z = 1. An independent claim is also included for producing a piezoceramic component by making a green body comprising (I) and heat-treating the green body to form a piezoceramic material.
