PURPOSE : A method for producing a catalyst is provided to oxidize and reduce crystalline compound of heavy metals and rare earth elements, gas, and steam in a catalytic method, thereby improving the catalytic activity of the catalyst and increasing the lifetime of the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION : A catalyst is produced for oxidation of gaseous and vaporous hydrocarbon and catalytic and selective reduction of denitrification. In the catalyst, a crystal layer is formed on a carrier as a catalytically active material, through coupling of rare earth elements and heavy metals, cobalt and manganese, during a multi-stage crystallization process. The rare earth elements and the heavy metals, cobalt and manganese, are formed in a ratio above stoichiometry so that a large amount of rare earth elements are obtained from the crystal layer. Further, the rare earth element is one or a mixture of lanthanum, cerium and yttrium.
