PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a bond magnet on which a thin plated film is uniformly formed on the surface thereof with less fluctuation in thickness, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same magnet.
SOLUTION : The bond magnet is provided with a magnet body obtained by compression-molding of a mixture including magnetic powder formed of a magnetic alloy containing a rare-earth element and a thermosetting resin and a plated film formed on the surface of the magnet body having a ratio (=σ/tave) of standard deviation σ of film thickness to an average film thickness tave of 0.5 or less. The method for manufacturing the bond magnet comprises the steps of molding for compression molding of the mixture of the magnetic powder and thermosetting resin, hardening the magnet body by heating the molding body, and plating the surface of the magnet body to form a plated film with non-electrolytic plating. In the plating process, a ratio (Vm/Vb) of apparent volume Vm of the magnet body to a volume Vb of a rotating barrel is in the range of 0.1 to 0.7 and non-electrolytic plating is conducted using the rotating barrel so that a ratio (S/V) of the total surface area S of the magnet body to the volume V of bath solution ranges from 5 to 200.
