PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth oxynitride-based phosphor excited with an excitation light source in a short wavelength region from ultraviolet to visible light and emitting green light by wavelength conversion.
SOLUTION : The rare earth oxynitride-based phosphor comprises rare earth, nitrogen and oxygen and is represented by the general formula : JxLyOaNb : Ce, Tb (wherein, J is at least one selected from the group of Sc, Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; L is at least one selected from the group of Si, Ge, Ti, Zr and Hf; O is oxygen; N is nitrogen; and x, y, a and b are each within a specific range of 0.5≤x≤8.5, 0.5≤y≤12, 0.5≤a≤16 and 0.5≤b≤16). The rare earth oxynitride-based phosphor is co-activated with cerium and terbium, absorbs excitation light at ≤460 nm and emits fluorescence having the peak wavelength within the range of 530-570 nm wavelength.
