PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of a permanent magnet of high magnetic characteristics which realizes high productivity and cost reduction and furthermore has extremely high coercive force.
SOLUTION : A film formation process for forming at least one of Dy and Tb on at least a part of the surface of a sintered magnet S of a predetermined shape, of iron/boron/rare earth element, and a diffusion process for diffusing at least one of Dy and Tb formed on the surface by carrying out heat treatment at a predetermined temperature onto a crystal grain boundary phase of the sintered magnet are carried out. A sintered magnet to be used is prepared so that its average crystal grain diameter is in the range of 7 to 20 μm is used.
