Magnetic Pot Magnets otherwise known as ferrous traps or finger pot magnets often are made of cast stainless steel which when machined, work hardens and becomes highly magnetic. These ???pots??? are in use throughout the world in food plants, etc and have been for about 50 years. In the current decade risk programs have required magnet fingers to be up to 10, 000 gauss compared to earlier units which were acceptable at up to 5, 000 gauss ??? many were only 2, 000 gauss. The increase magnet strength of rare earth magnets resulted in fingers grabbing to the pot sides. Many older pots remain in use and are provided with new lid / magnet finger assemblies to satisfy current product security standards. This is therefore an ongoing problem. Prior art is limited to welded on discs at the base of the magnet fingers. Whilst this solved the above problem, the magnet fingers were then not open ended and magnet cleaning became difficult, even unfeasible. This invention enables old pots to be utilised without the disadvantages of prior art whilst providing for the 10, 000 gauss currently acceptable magnetic separation standard. The invention is summarised as : - A simple hygienic device which centralises and guides highly magnetic fingers into magnet pots (magnetic through work hardening) permitting less difficult lid sealing, reduced damage to magnet fingers and yet enables the magnet fingers to be open ended and easily cleaned of magnetic fragments as well as the spider being easily removed and sanitised separately.
