PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for stably producing an oxygen-introduced rare earth-activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide photostimulable phosphor and to provide a radiation image conversion panel with high luminance using the phosphor. SOLUTION : The method for producing the oxygen-introduced rare earth- activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide photostimulable phosphor comprises the following at least three steps. Step 1 of removing a solvent from a solution at ≥3.3 mol/L barium concentration and thereby affording a photostimulable phosphor precursor, step 2 of adding and mixing alumina fine particles having 2-50 nm particle diameter in an amount of 0.15-0.30 mass% based on the photostimulable phosphor precursor therewith and step 3 of heating the resultant mixture of the precursor with the alumina fine particles to ≥600°C.
