PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for separating and recovering boron from boron-containing water by using a rare earth element hydroxide powder as an adsorbent which efficiently separate and remove boron in the boron-containing water without being affected by coexistent ion components, and concentrates the boron at high concentration to recover it.
SOLUTION : The method comprises the following processes (1) to (4) : the process (1) of bringing the boron-containing water into contact with ion exchange resin to obtain boron-adsorbed ion exchange resin and boron-removed purified water, the process (2) of bringing the boron-adsorbed ion exchange resin into contact with a mineral acid to elute boron, obtaining a boron-containing eluant, the process (3) of bringing the eluant into contact with a rare earth element hydroxide powder to adsorb boron in the eluant, obtaining boron-adsorbed rare earth element hydroxide powder, and the process (4) of bringing the boron-adsorbed rare earth element hydroxide powder into contact with a mineral acid or an aqueous alkaline solution to desorb boron, obtaining a high-concentration boric acid solution.
