PURPOSE : Wrought alloys which possess superior thermal stability and versatility and exhibit characteristics of a nickel-molybdenum alloy and a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy are provided.
CONSTITUTION : A nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy, which is capable of withstanding both strong oxidizing and strong reducing acid solutions, comprises 20.0 to 23.5 wt.%% of molybdenum, 13.0 to 16.5 wt.%% of chromium, 0.5 wt.%% or less of aluminum, 1 wt.%% or less of manganese, 0.05 wt.%% or less of magnesium, 0.05 wt.%% or less of rare earth elements, 2.0 wt.%% or less of iron, 0.08 wt.%% or less of silicon, 0.013 wt.%% or less of carbon, 0.75 wt.%% or less of tungsten, 1.0 wt.%% or less of cobalt, 0.5 wt.%% or less of copper, 0.2 wt.%% or less of titanium, 0.5 wt.%% or less of niobium, 0.2 wt.%% or less of tantalum, 0.2 wt.%% or less of vanadium, and the balance of nickel. The alloy is in a wrought form selected from the group consisting of sheets, plates, bars, tubes, pipes, forgings, and wires. The alloy is in a cast form. The alloy is in a powder metallurgy form.
