PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst carrier particle which enables the proper dispersion of rhodium on the surface of a catalyst carrier while suppressing the movement and sintering of rhodium on the surface of the catalyst carrier using a rare-earth element oxide, its manufacturing method and an exhaust gas purifying catalyst constituted by supporting rhodium on the exhaust gas purifying catalyst.
SOLUTION : The catalyst carrier particle 10 is constituted by scattering rare-earth element oxide enriched regions 2 over the surface of a zirconia type metal oxide particle 1. The manufacturing method of the catalyst carrier particle includes the process (a) of providing a colloid solution containing colloidal particles of a rare-earth element hydroxide or oxide, the process (b) of adding zirconia type metal oxide particles to the colloid solution to adsorb and support the colloidal particles on the surfaces of the zirconia type metal oxide particles and the process (c) of drying and baking the zirconia type metal oxide particles on which the colloidal particles are adsorbed and supported.
