PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a lithium ion battery positive electrode material which is high in specific capacity and superior in high-temperature stabilizing function, safety and high-temperature charge/discharge cycle performance, of which the manufacturing process is simple and the manufacturing cost is relatively low.
SOLUTION : A lithium ion battery positive electrode material is represented by the general formula, LiaNixCoyMnzMbO2 where 1.02≤a≤1.20, 0.0≤b≤0.5, 0.30≤x≤0.60, 0.20≤y≤0.4, 0.05≤z≤0.50 and x+y+z=1, and M element represents one or more elements selected from Mg, Ti, Al, Zr, Y, Co, Mn, Ni, Ba and a rare earth element. The lithium ion battery positive electrode material includes primary particles exhibiting a spherical or spheroidal shape under a scanning electron microscope, and secondary particles formed by agglomeration groups of the primary particles. The number-based percentage of the secondary particles formed by agglomeration of groups of the primary particles is 30% or less.
