PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To suppress the discharge of NOx, soot and unburnt fuel, and improve combustion efficiency.
SOLUTION : An internal combustion engine which obtains power by burning fossil fuel in a combustion chamber 11 takes mixed gas of oxygen and rare gas as intake air to be fed to the combustion chamber 11. Since no nitrogen is contained in the intake air, there occurs no NOx in combustion gas. By taking the rear gas as a principal component of the intake air, the temperature of the intake air after compression can be increased so that the discharge of soot and unburnt fuel can be suppressed. The temperature of the exhaust gas can be also reduced, furthermore, so that heat energy disposed as exhaust gas is effectively utilized to improve combustion efficiency.
