PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To solve such a problem that a high-temperature superconductor having a superconducting transition temperature of >100K has been found however a normal-temperature superconductor has not been found in perovskite type copper oxides.
SOLUTION : It is found that a compound which is shown by a chemical formula : LaFeOPh (wherein Ph is at least one of P, As and Sb) and has a ZrCuSiAs-type (space group P4/nmm) crystal structure, has around 5K superconducting transition temperature. LaFeOPh is a member of a group of layered structure compounds each of which is shown by general chemical formula : LnMOPn (wherein Ln is Y and at least one of rare earth metallic elements (La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu); M is at least one of transition metals (Fe, Ru, Os); Pn is at least one of pnictide elements (N, P, As, Sb)). The transition temperature of the compound can be controlled by adding an F ion to change the number of carriers.
