PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, which is improved in the performance for cleaning exhaust gas. SOLUTION : The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is obtained by forming a catalyst layer on a honeycomb carrier. The catalyst layer is formed by mixing catalyst powder (A) consisting of a compound oxide (RhZrCeNdO) containing Ce, Zr and a catalytic noble metal Rh at the least with catalyst powder (B) consisting of a compound oxide (RhZrXO) which contains Zr at the least and on the surface of which Rh exists so that the mass ratio (RhZrXO/(RhZrXO+RhZrCeNdO)) of the catalyst powder (B) to the total of the catalyst powder (A) and the catalyst powder (B) is within 1-50%. The catalyst powder (B) consists of the compound oxide containing Zr as a principal component, Rh and a rare earth metal X other than Ce. COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
