PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid gold ball which excels not only in flying performance but also in approach shot performance and others by making it favorably deformed in a full shot with a driver at a low speed of the head. SOLUTION : The solid golf ball includes a core and a cover layer covering it. The core is formed out of a rubber base material containing a polybutadine rubber having 60% or more of cis-1, 4-bond synthesized by using a rare-earth catalyst and a rubber composition containing an organosulfur compound, unsaturated carboxylic acid or its metal salt, an inorganic filler and an antioxidant while the degree of deformation and the distribution of hardness when a load from an initial load of 10 kgf to a final load of 130 kgf is imposed on the core are specified. The cover layer is mainly composed of a polyurethane material and the thickness and the surface hardness of the cover layer are specified. Moreover, at least an intermediate layer is included between the core and the cover and the surface hardness and the total thickness of the intermediate layer are specified.
