PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ferritic stainless steel for a high-temperature device of a fuel cell, which presents excellent oxidation resistance even in a high-temperature atmosphere containing a large amount of steam and also has superior thermal fatigue characteristics.
SOLUTION : The ferritic stainless steel has a chemical composition comprising, by mass%, 8 to 35% Cr, 0.03% or less C, 0.03% or less N, 1.5% or less Mn, 0.008% or less S, 0.2 to 3.0% Si and/or 0.5 to 7.0% Al, and the balance substantially Fe, and being adjusted so as to satisfy the relation of Cr(mass%)+7×(Si(mass%)+Al(mass%))≥22. The ferritic stainless steel may further include, by mass%, one or more elements of 0.001 to 0.1% Y, 0.001 to 0.1% REM (rare earth element) and 0.001 to 0.01% Ca, and/or one or more elements of 0.05 to 0.80% Nb, 0.03 to 0.50% Ti, 0.1 to 4.0% Mo and 0.1 to 4.0% Cu.
