PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for electrodepositing metals by which the electrodepositon of high melting point metals, rare earth metals or the like is facilitated. SOLUTION : A molten salt of a quaternary ammonium halide expressed by general formula (I) and/or a molten salt of a pyrrolidinium halide expressed by general formula (III) (wherein R1 to R6 denote a 1 to 12C alkyl group or a 5 to 7C cycloalkyl group which may have the same or different substituent, and X- denotes a halide anion as a counter ion) is used as a bath at a temperature of 100 to 200°C.
