PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To achieve more oscillation wavelengths in a laser diode pumped solid-state laser exciting a solid-state laser crystal to which a rare earth element ion is added with a laser diode to generate laser beams. SOLUTION : A GaN-based laser diode 11 excites the solid-state laser crystal 13 to which Sm3+ is added. Solid-state laser beams 16 are generated by the transition of 4G5/2 → 6H5/2, 4G5/2 → 6H7/2, or 4F3/2 → 6H11/2 in the solid-state laser crystal 13. COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
