Hot cathode discharge lamp (20) comprising protective film (24), mercury (21) having phosphor layer (26) superimposed on its internal face, glass valve (22) having a rare gas for buffer hermetically sealed therein and bead mount type electrodes (30a, 30b). The hot cathode discharge lamp (20) is used in a 50° to 70°C atmosphere as a light source of backlight unit. The rare gas for buffer contains krypton in an amount of 20%% or more. © KIPO & WIPO 2008
