PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an earth and sand or plant constructing unit excellent in changing operability even when changing after constructing becomes necessary, and preventing earth and sand or plants held in the unit from scattering. SOLUTION : This earth and sand or plant constructing unit has a bottom wall of a square shape when viewed in a plane, and a plurality of tread pressure supporting projections 10 which are pojectedly set on the upper side of the bottom wall. Along the four sides of the bottom wall, four side walls 2 which are lower than the height of the tread pressure supporting projection 10 are arranged in a standing condition. A holding area H surrounded with the four side walls 2 can hold earth and sand or plants. Each of the four side walls 2 is set with horizontal connection mechanisms (21 and 22) for positioning the horizontal direction and connecting between two laid units, and with connection lock mechanisms (30 and 40) for locking a connected condition between two laid units.
