PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a planting block intended for developing lawn for new application such as weed prevention. SOLUTION : This planting block is such that a holding member which holds plant roots in a condition of being able to supply nutriment to the plant roots is inserted into the inside of a case having an opening, the plant roots are held with the holding member, parts of a plant, excluding the roots, to be exposed to the earth are placed in the outside than the holding member in the opening of the case, and the case is arranged to face the opening toward the horizontal direction. The holding member has a self holding function to be prevented from spilling out from the opening when arranging the case to face the opening toward the horizontal direction. The case is either one selected from the group consisting of a rectangular solid container, a rectangular solid box whose four walls forming an opening are formed in a meshy form, a box with a window, having an opening closing cover, and a basket body with a handle.
