PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth phosphate hardly causing the lowering of initial brightness, the lowering of brightness maintaining rate when continuously lit, and temperature quenching, and capable of easily controlling its particle diameter, a rare earth phosphate fluorescent material, and their manufacturing method.
SOLUTION : This rare earth phosphate is represented by the composition formula : LnxCeyTbzPO4 (wherein Ln represents at least an element selected from the group consisting of La, Gd and Y; x, y and z are each a number satisfying the conditions : 0≤x<1, 0≤y≤1, 0≤z≤0.4, and x+y+z=1) and its powder reflection coefficient at the wave length of 490 nm is at least 99% of that of MgO powder after calcining at 120-900°C in the air, and its manufacturing method, a fluorescent material using the rare earth phosphate, and its manufacturing method are also disclosed.
