PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a nonwoven fabric for raising of rice seedling, not causing sticking up of root through the earth in raising of seedling and capable of breaking it when seedling is scratched off by a rice transplanter. SOLUTION : This nonwoven fabric is obtained by three-dimensionally entangling biodegradable short fibers and is composed of a short fiber having thin fineness and a short fiber having thick fineness, and single yarn fineness of the short fiber having thin fineness is 0.1-3 denier and single yarn fineness of the short fiber having thick fineness is 4-25 denier and (single yarn fineness of short fiber having thick fineness)/(single fineness of short fiber having thin fineness)=3-50 and the sum of tensile strength in longitudinal direction and width direction of nonwoven fabric is 1-5 kg/5 cm width and tear strength in width direction of nonwoven fabric is <=500 g.
