PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a low nickel-containing copper-nickel alloy having mechanical strength, ductility and corrosion resistance.
SOLUTION : The metal alloy is mainly formed from copper, nickel, magnesium and iron. The main constituting elements are copper and nickel. The contents of magnesium and iron are remarkably increased compared with those in an ordinary alloy by the conventional technology. The new alloy comprises the following elements in the following ratios (by mass% and/or by wt.%) : copper (40 to 61%), nickel (35 to 45%), manganese (3.9 to 10%), iron (0.1 to 5%); and carbon, silicon, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, chromium, rare earths, molybdenum and/or yttrium (≤2% of the total), and the total of the respective components is 100 mass% or 100 wt.%.
