PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a filament-like composite material which contains a catalyst component in such a state as to hardly desorb a catalyst component, and to provide a fiber assembly, a fiber composite and a diesel particulate filter using the filament-like composite material. SOLUTION : The filament-like composite material has a columnar filament-like base material and the catalyst component contained in the columnar filament-like base material. The average fiber diameter of the filament-like composite material is 5 to 30 μm. The catalyst component is an oxide containing a rare earth element. The filament-like base material is an oxide containing aluminum as a constituent element. Preferably, the filament-like base material is an oxide containing aluminum and silicon as a constituent element. The fiber assembly comprises the filament-like composite material. The fiber assembly is provided with the filament-like composite material and a support. The diesel particulate filter comprises at least one of the fiber assembly and the fiber composite.
